Tender Loving "Bears" Collected
Everyone needs a Teddy Bear sometimes. They just seem to make things better, at least for a moment. This is the thought behind the "Joined in Remembrance" teddy bear program developed by Lori and John Donaldson. They have created this program to bring a bit of comfort to families faced with overwhelming grief.
The Donaldsons suffered a miscarriage of their first pregnancy in 1997. While working through their grief, the Donaldsons decided to find a way to bring a small bit of comfort to other families facing miscarriage, stillbirth or early infant death. Donations of teddy bears will not replace what was lost, but lets families know that even though each situation is unique, there are others who have endured this pain.
On Sunday, April 10, 2011 our church members gathered and donated a variety of brand new Teddy Bears for the foundation. Lori Donaldson was on hand to receive the donation and thank us for continuing to support her efforts.
Ongoing Activities
Sunday School
Ongoing through the year the First Presbyterian Church of Hanover has a complete and exciting Sunday School program for children of all ages.
Every morning at 10:45 our children enjoy a special children’s sermon before continuing to the parish house for instruction. In addition, our Sunday School members participate in regular services as bell ringers, ushers, and readers.
Our children are active participants, not only for holidays but also as ushers, readers, and bell ringers. They love participating in collecting our Annual Gifts for Jesus, "Souper" Bowl Sunday, and the Teddy Bears for the Joined In Remembrance Fund.
